Good To Know

  • Scale the outside of a skyscraper more than 1,200 feet above ground, and enjoy a victory lap at Edge NYC after your City Climb (included with your City Climb ticket).
  • Climbers typically spend about 1.5 hour total for the experience; please arrive early for your check-in time.
  • You will be provided a City Climb suit to be worn over your clothing. Come dressed in secure fitting, fully-enclosed shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing that is comfortable for walking and climbing stairs.
  • Cameras are prohibited on the course, however all climbers will receive a complimentary video of their climb. Still photos will be available for purchase afterwards as well.
  • Family and friends can cheer you on from Edge as you reach the top. Tickets to Edge can be purchased here.
  • Climbers must have a blood-alcohol reading below 0.080 in order to participate; all climbers will be breathalyzed.

What is City Climb?

City Climb at Edge NYC is the highest external building climb in the world, located above Edge. This challenging course is led by trained guides, as your small group scales the outside of a 1,200-foot skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Climbers can lean out across the open edges with nothing but air and breathtaking views of New York City.

How long does City Climb take?

From start to finish, City Climb can take between 75 minutes and 2 hours, including checking in and suiting up.

Where can I put my belongings?

Free lockers will be provided to store your belongings. Normal-size backpacks and bags are permitted at Edge, and are subject to inspection by visiting Edge. The lockers cannot accommodate large bags or luggage.

Can I drink alcohol prior to my climb?

All climbers must have a blood-alcohol reading below 0.080 in order to participate in City Climb. During check-in, all City Climb participants will be breathalyzed. Any Climber who tests over the allowable limit will not be permitted to climb. If a Climber refuses to be breathalyzed, they will not be able to participate and their ticket will not be refunded.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Climbers are required to wear secure fitting, completely enclosed shoes that cover all of the foot, up to the ankle, without any toe or heel openings. City Climb shoes are available, in the situation where a climber's shoe does not meet the specifications.

What should I wear?

All climbers will be provided a City Climb suit that is to be worn over clothing. All City Climb Suits are fully laundered/disinfected after each use. Climbers should wear clothing that is comfortable for walking and climbing stairs, and please ensure that it is appropriate for the weather conditions. Note that any loose items, such as watches and earrings are required to be removed as well. All Climbers are required to wear secure fitting, completely enclosed shoes that cover all of the foot, up to the ankle, without any toe or heel openings. City Climb shoes are available, in the situation where a Climber's shoes do not meet the specifications.

Can I wear glasses and/or sunglasses?

Yes, you will be provided a tether to keep them secured.

Does City Climb operate in all weather conditions?

City Climb will operate year-round in most weather conditions. However, high winds, heavy rain, lightning, and certain extreme temperatures, may cause City Climb to delay or cease operations to ensure the safety of all climbers and climb guides.

Who can visit City Climb? Are there any physical restrictions?

For safety reasons, City Climb participants must meet the following restrictions or they will be denied entry: Be at least 13 years of age and older, between 4.9-foot and 6.7-foot tall, weigh between 65lbs and 310lbs, and cannot be under the influence of alcohol. Climbers aged 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) The following persons should not participate: - Guests under the influence of alcohol; - Guests under the influence of drugs or medications that could impair judgment; - Guests with heart conditions; - Pregnant women or those who may be pregnant; - Guests with disabilities that may interfere with their safety while participating in City Climb; - Guests with vertigo; - People with motion sickness; - Guests with any physical, mental, or psychological ailments, disorders, or diseases that would inhibit their ability to participate in or could be aggravated by this experience.

Can I bring a camera or recording device?

No recording devices are allowed on the course. All loose articles, including cameras, must be stored in a free locker during the climb for safety. Climb Guides will record the entire experience, as well as take still photos along the way. As part of the admission fee, you will receive a complimentary video of your City Climb. Still photos will be available to purchase after the climb.
